What kind can I get?
You can get mini metal braces, which are very durable and combine well with the color choices. Some teens choose clear braces, particularly on their upper teeth. Clear braces work best for teens that treat them with care and attention! |
What will I look like?
You will look great. Braces are cool, period. And they give you a comfortable & confident smile for you to enjoy for the rest of your life. |
What colors can I get?
At each appointment you get to pick which color elastic ties we place on your braces. This could be your favorite color, silver & black Raiders' colors, green & yellow A's colors or any other team's colors. You can pick your school colors or pick a combination for a rainbow-look. It's up to you! |
Can I have Invisalign?
Invisalign works for adults and teens, and we have several teens in Invisalign treatment. Dr. van den Berg will tell you at your first visit if you are an Invisalign candidate. |
Can I still eat whatever I want?
As soon as you get your braces they start working for your smile, so you want to take very good care of them. You will want to avoid foods that are very sticky or hard to keep your braces in tip-top shape. We will give you a list of the dangerous foods to avoid while you are in treatment. |
How are braces put on my teeth?
We start by placing spacers between your back teeth to make some room. At your next visit, we polish your teeth to make them sparkly clean. Then we fit the bands around your back teeth. Now it's time for the braces! We paint a conditioner on your teeth, a quick rinse and your braces are put on one by one, it's like putting a tiny sticker on a piece of paper. We shine a blue light on your braces to harden the glue. Next, the first flexible wire is placed in your braces and tied in place with the elastic ties of your choice. To top it off we explain how to take care of your braces. That's all there's to it and you are on your way to a great smile! |
